Cataract is the loss of transparency
of the lens. The lens that loses its transparency reduces visual acuity. The
only treatment option for cataracts is surgery. Cataract surgery is one of the
most frequently performed surgeries in the world. The lens, which has lost its
transparency, is removed by surgery through a small incision. An artificial
intraocular lens is implanted instead.
Artificial
lenses are produced through high technology. Depending on the condition of the
patient's eye, a monofocal, bifocal or multifocal intraocular lens can be
implanted. These implanted lenses are capable of staying in the eye for a
lifetime.
Cataract
surgery is performed under local anesthesia. No hospitalization is required
after the surgery. Drop treatment is required for 1 month after the surgery.
There is no restriction on air travel following the first day postoperative
control.
