Blepharoplasty

Depending on age, sagging of the skin tissue of the eyelid can be seen. This condition is called dermatochalasis. Dermatochalasis can occur on both the lower and upper eyelids. This change in physical appearance is not only frustrating but can sometimes be so severe that it obstructs vision.

Treatment of dermatochalasis is possible and mostly surgical. This surgical treatment is called blepharoplasty. With surgical treatment, the sagging eyelid skin tissue is excised and a more natural and youthful appearance can be achieved. The surgery is performed under local anesthesia and takes approximately 1-2 hours. No hospitalization is required after the surgery. In the first week or two, there may be temporary swelling and bruising on the eyelids. It takes 1-2 months to achieve the desired appearance and the healing process.

Blepharoplasty surgery is not a standard surgery for everyone. Surgery may differ depending on the condition of the eyelid sagging, the structure of the eye and the wishes of the individuals. Therefore, surgical planning is made individually.
